Kick

The conflict of the book Kick by Ross Workman and Walter Dean Myers is Kevin Johnson, a thirteen year old boy is found in a wreck with another thirteen year old girl. The car belonged to the girls father but nobody wanted to speak to the police about what had happened. The story is set in 21st century New Jersey. The Most Important passage I chose is "People who volunteered that they treated everybody the same usually bothered me." The reason I chose this is because the story so far has been about how Kevin was being treated differently after he came back from juvenile detention. Everybody would stare at him and glance away when he looked at them. The Sentence of Brilliance that I chose is "It reminded me of three years ago when my dad died and people looked at me like I was the one who died." I liked this sentence because it drew a picture perfectly of the situation it was trying to describe.
